Pain when drinking cold beverages or eating sweet foods, persistent toothaches or discomfort when biting down, stains, discoloration, or other visible signs of wear and tear, and other symptoms may indicate the presence of dental decay. Without treatment, signs can persist for days, weeks, or even months. A progressive process, tooth decay can even threaten the health and structure of the tooth.
Serving Cockeysville, Baltimore, Towson, and greater northernt Maryland, Hunt Valley Dental can preserve your teeth, avoid extractions, and get your oral health back on the right track with crowns in a day.
Dr. Thomas Rhodes has invested in the CEREC system, which makes same-day crowns possible. Using Computer-Aided Design and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAD-CAM) techniques and software, we can prepare, design, fabricate, place, refine, secure, and polish your new dental crown in just one visit.
Conventional equipment and processes require at least two visits: the first visit to prepare the damaged tooth to “accept” the crown and to prepare the permanent lab-made crown, and the second return visit to secure the permanent crown to the tooth once it has been made. From start to finish, the traditional process requires weeks, and a delicate temporary crown is used to protect the prepared tooth while an outside lab makes the permanent restoration.
By bringing all aspects of the crowns process in-house (no outside lab required!), Dr. Rhodes can design and mill your crown in 20 minutes. No return trips to our office. No annoying temporaries. Adjustments may be made while you wait, too, in a matter of moments. Furthermore, we minimize human error using advanced diagnostics such as optical impressions. Traditional, goopy impressions are not only uncomfortable for patients but also imprecise. Our digital impression-taking creates highly accurate 3-D models of teeth to render the best-fitting impression in the most efficient way possible.
Our CEREC crowns are further milled from high-quality porcelain. So, they are aesthetic and durable. These crowns are a significant investment in your smile, oral health, and wellbeing. They may last for years as long as you care for them like natural teeth–with consistent, thorough at-home hygiene and regular visits to our office for dental check-ups and professional cleanings.
Furthermore, we can partner with you to identify and address any habits that may produce excessive wear and tear to CEREC crowns, leading to early damage of the treated teeth. These behaviors include bruxism (chronic teeth grinding) and chewing on ice and hard, sticky foods.
Do not delay in scheduling your appointment today. We can help you avoid the need for restorative care, such as dental crowns, in the first place if problems are detected and addressed early. Call (410) 771-6300 to reach our skilled and friendly team in Hunt Valley, Maryland.
