SureSmile® is a convenient, comfortable, and stress-free way to get straight teeth that enhance your overall appearance and support your general health and well-being. Due to its many unique features, the SureSmile® system is well worth the cost as an alternative to traditional braces. Dr. Thomas Rhodes and the entire team at Hunt Valley Dental are pleased to provide this clear aligner system to patients from Cockeysville, Towson, Baltimore, and greater northern Maryland.
Braces use specialized brackets, wires, and bands to place consistent pressure on crooked, crowded, and otherwise unevenly spaced teeth. In doing so, braces gradually reposition the teeth into their proper placements. While modern braces are generally lighter and may be designed with innocuous tooth-colored brackets and wires, they are “fixed” and secured to the teeth. They can only be adjusted and removed by dental professionals like Dr. Rhodes. Braces also require an adjustment period, as patients re-learn how to eat, speak, and clean their teeth with their braces. Maintaining good oral hygiene can be challenging throughout the treatment process and requires special oral care products and cleaning techniques. Additionally, metal hardware may rub up against the insides of the mouth, and wires or other components can break and require immediate and periodic repairs.
Treatment with SureSmile® is different. This alternative involves wearing a series of removable oral appliances or aligners to reposition the teeth. It uses the same principles associated with conventional braces; each aligner continuously applies gentle force to the teeth to correct crowding and spacing issues. The aligners are made from clear and smooth plastic. So, they are discreet, comfortable, and do not rub up against delicate tissues. Irritation and sores are avoided.
Likewise, even compared to other clear aligner products, SureSmile® is particularly precise. We use comfortable and advanced scanners and software to create aligners that are an exact fit in your mouth. Optimal fit supports optimal comfort and treatment outcomes. When worn as directed by our team, many of our patients have straightened their teeth in around six to nine months. Aligners should be worn at all times – only removed when eating, brushing, and flossing. Each aligner tray must be worn in the correct order. Every aligner is unique. So, failure to wear them in the correct sequence can interfere with treatment progress and results.
