Professional teeth whitening at the dentist’s office generally gets results when OTC products fail to live up to the hype.
Our dentist, Dr. Thomas Rhodes, has ensured that the treatment process accounts for many factors. This comprehensive or holistic approach allows for truly customized treatment. In turn, Hunt Valley Dental supports the safety, comfort, and satisfaction patients throughout northeastern Maryland get from professional whitening trays.
Dentist’s offices generally offer both in-office “power whitening” and take-home whitening with special appliances called “whitening trays.” Dr. Rhodes has selected only those products and techniques that support optimal patient experiences and treatment outcomes.
Office or chairside whitening may seem attractive to patients at first blush; however, this form of fast teeth lightening in just one visit is associated with significant sensitivity and discomfort. Plus, patients’ sustained satisfaction from such treatment cannot be guaranteed with this method of professional whitening.
Our practice’s process is clinically proven safe and effective at producing noticeable and lasting results. It is also highly customizable. Patients are provided with custom trays, which are fitted to their mouths. So, when the tray is inserted, it conforms snugly yet comfortably to the contours of the teeth and tissues.
The trays are filled with a concentrated whitening gel prescribed with your unique needs and characteristics in mind. Additionally, the precision fit is essential for the gel to transfer to the teeth evenly and to minimize the risk of irritation to the surrounding tissues.
Our patients also appreciate that they can control their level of whitening. Just wear the trays as directed by Dr. Rhodes, either overnight or for up to one hour each day, and then stop the process as soon as your teeth are as white as you’d like them to be. Dr. Rhodes may prescribe specially-designed trays with special gel formulations for patients with particularly stubborn or deep staining and discoloration.
Lastly, to minimize any sensitivity that may still be associated with convenient whitening at home, we can discuss products to insert in the trays each time you whiten your teeth.
